Two Sides to the Story

"Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom .."

~ Marcel Prouse

Yesterday was a day of Thanksgiving. Sometimes it takes a Holiday season to remind us to enter into a deeper environment of gratitude. Love grows and we are reminded of what is special about each and everyone in our lives. My Christmas wish is that both sides of the story are spoken.

I received a Facebook message which led into a telephone call and a wonderful person gave us information that was a bit on the shocking side. Only because our persecution was obviously a cover-up for the sins of the persecutor. As the conversation progressed, we learned of the dishonesty, the cheating, and the hurt done to others. This person had both sides of the story.

How easy it is to believe something at the spur of the moment, to take sides with the most winning team, or to let negative thoughts and gossip consume us. I am not exempt; I have not done everything correct in my life but this last year has been one of making amends and working hard. I am proud of my successes in taking care of my husband and home. Sometimes it takes an intentional effort to slow down and think, research, and appreciate both sides of the story. How grateful I am for the person that took a stand against the negative and called to bring us positive reassurance and information. Misery needs an army and a coward stands behind the skirts of others to protect from accountability. And that's okay! We understand both sides of the story now and move forward with gratitude that we are not stuck in such a place. Gratitude turns what we have into enough; puts life into perspective and removes all false tempos.

Today, movement forward is the bringing of the Christmas tree with my children, the hanging of the lights on the house, and the finishing of a bedroom for guests coming for the Holidays! I am grateful for my husband who sees the best in me, employments to care for my family, and new friends bringing forth encouragement and enlightenment. It doesn't get better than this!

What are you grateful for today?
